The Hounds of Sauron

Flurry of Teeth and Fur

First of all I'd like to apologize for the quality of the pictures on this post. I'm behind on posting my work so I just used the ones I snapped to share on Facebook and Reddit. They're decent thanks to the ridiculous camera on my phone, but not set up with proper lighting.

For this post I tackled the mountain of Wargs that were on my to-do list. In all I had 18 Wild Wargs (which will eventually also be ridden by orcs), a Warg Chieftain, and 3 of the OOP metal Warg Riders.

Oldest and Fatherless

Iarwain Ben-adar

This post is going to be relatively short, I just wanted to quickly throw these pictures up to get them out of the way.  I concurrently painted Tom Bombadil as well as FINALLY finished the 4 paralyzed Hobbits from the Fog on the Barrow Downs kit. With these models done, I actually have all the models needed for the scenario of the same name.

The Guardians of Lothlorien

Lord and Lady of the Golden Wood

Finally! I finally put brush to paint to complete the model of one of my favorite characters in the Tolkien legendarium. Most people know Galadriel as the nice lady who helped the Fellowship following their misadventures in Khazad-Dum (claiming that as a band name fyi). However as a character, she is much more significant than just that.

Haldir and Company

Putting in some work

I've recently gotten a spur of inspiration to do some painting. I have been trying to set some personal goals to broaden my horizons and be more creative in general. I sometimes settle into a pattern of using all my personal time playing video games. While I love video games, I really would like my leisure time to be a time where I can make or create something on some level, so painting is always a great fallback.

Laying out a plan

Right before I started my latest unintentional hiatus from this project, I had planned to paint up the 6 Lorien Elves and Haldir which are to be used in one of the later missions from the Journey book. Also on the backburner from earlier in the project is

Darkness Dwells in Durin's Halls

Hordes of the Dark

Now if you read my last post, I addressed a major speed bump in painting progress recently. I was somewhat vague as I wanted to make a separate post for this update. What happened is I was jonesing to boost my numbers of painted models, and I also have two big horde groups I needed to paint for the Fellowship book, the first is a mob of 18 Wild Wargs and the other: Moria Goblins!

Cold Dead Fingers and a Little Fun

Lucky for the readers, my fingers aren't cold and dead

Ah, another several months, another hiatus. Not so much as a hiatus as a roadblock. I've had a busy summer! I am a middle school teacher so I stopped working on June 12. After that I spent 3 weeks in various states of vacation/relaxation, so not much painting was done. After that I've basically been spending time with my son and fishing, with a bit of painting in the evenings. I'll be doing two posts, this one, and one immediately following, which will cover what I've finished and a rough outline of whats on my desk, primed, waiting to be painted.

The Lord of the House of the Golden Flower

I'm Here I Promise!

So I know I set some deadlines recently, but life got in the way as it tends to do, so my painting, as well as blogging, were delayed. But I went ahead and finished Glorfindel and Arwen's foot and mounted models, and I have to say I think they look pretty amazing. I re-learned a few things I had forgotten, mostly due to organization and efficiency when painting one-offs or characters. This post has a lot of words, and a lot of pictures, but I figure for a less than regular poster, I ought to at least give you a lot of content, so here we go!
